Thirty Acre Gardens is located at 300 Knorr Rd., Gettysburg. Bike racks are located at the entrance to the trail; at this time, we're offering parking for bikes only. If you don't have bike access to the preserve, please email us to discuss alternative arrangements.
The trail is very new, so there are still numerous hidden stumps and holes. Please use proper footwear, keep an eye out for stumps, and walk carefully.
Stay on the trail.
Very few parts of the trail are shaded, so prepare for sunny, hot walking conditions; bring hats, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
Ticks are numerous in the tall grasses and brush, so check for ticks during and immediately following your visit. Ticks are numerous diseases, so, if found, remove immediately and watch the spot in the days following to see if any rashes develop. Call your doctor if any untoward symptoms occur.
The walking trail is a wild habitat, so be on the lookout for poison ivy; long pants and socks are recommended.
There are wild animals in the area such as coyotes, deer, groundhogs, raccoons, and skunks. Do not engage.
Take reasonable precautions to protect yourself while on the trail; please reference the U.S. Forest Service's Guidelines for Hiking.
Bring a fully charged cell phone in case of emergencies; if an emergency arises on the trail, immediately call 911.
The walking trail is open from dawn until dusk, and consists of a .7 mile outer loop, that can be expanded to one mile if you take the interior path. Signs on the trail will direct you accordingly.
Please stay on the trail.
Leashed pets are welcome, but please clean up after them.
Please text 717-951-8051 before or after you visit the trail with the number of visitors in your party, so we're able to accurately track trail usage. (We will never save your number!)
If you know where we could get free or inexpensive used garden benches, tree swings, tire swings, or plant markers, please let us know! If we could install a few of those items along the trail, it would greatly enhance our visitors' enjoyment of the walking trail.
